Passport Photo Checker

Already have a photo? Pick the document it is for, upload the photo, and get a report showing which published requirements it appears to meet. The checker only reports; it does not crop or change your photo.

The report covers head size and position, pose, sharpness and lighting. The AI check, which runs when you press “Check with AI”, also looks at things like glasses, open eyes, head coverings and shadows. It cannot judge everything, so some items are left for you to confirm yourself.

  • Even light, no shadows on the face
  • Leave space above the head and below the shoulders
  • Remove glasses

  1. Choose the document. Select US passport, online renewal, US visa, DV lottery or baby and child passport.
  2. Upload your photo. Pick the photo you want to check. Measurements run in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

What does the photo checker look at?

It measures head size and position, pose, sharpness and lighting, and an AI check that runs when you press “Check with AI” looks at things like glasses, open eyes, head coverings and shadows.

Does the checker change my photo?

No. The checker only reports. To crop and fix a photo, use one of the photo makers.

Which documents can I check against?

US passport, US passport online renewal, US visa, DV lottery and baby and child US passport photos.

Is my photo uploaded or stored?

Editing and measuring happen in your browser. The AI check runs only when you press “Check with AI”: a reduced copy of the photo is then sent to our server and an AI provider for analysis, and Passport911 does not store it.

Does a passing result mean my photo will be accepted?

No. Passport911 checks your photo against published requirements, but final acceptance is decided by the issuing agency.
